Wade Bennett
Pastor from July 1, 2001 until September 23, 2007.

Wade Bennett became the pastor of Merrimon UMC in July of 2001. Wade is
originally from Jacksonville, Florida and is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant
Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He attended Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he met his wife, Karen,
and where his three children, Briana (23), Katrissa (20) and Colton (17)
were born. Wade pursued a career in the electric power generation field,
and works as General Manager - Biomass Operations for CMS Energy, with responsibility for operation of four wood waste to energy plants and future wind power projects.
In 2000, while a member of Faith United Methodist Church in New Bern, God
let Wade know that He still had a calling on his life. Wade responded to
that call, serving as temporary interim pastor at several churches in the
New Bern District before coming to Merrimon. Wade plays piano and guitar,
focuses on Biblical preaching and teaching, and his passion is to see
people come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and live closer
to Him.
"Now the Word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time." Jonah 3:1
Wade made monthly contributions for our Meanderings newsletter, which were titled "Wade's Words".
